Get your iPhone UDID

Find the UDID of an iPhone or iPad in 30 seconds, for Apple Developer, ad hoc and development builds. Free, no sign-up, nothing stored.

How it works

Four taps on the device.

  1. 1

    Tap “Get my UDID”

In Safari on the iPhone or iPad. Choose Allow when Safari asks to download a configuration profile.

  2. 2

    Open Settings

Tap “Profile Downloaded” near the top of Settings (or General → VPN & Device Management).

  3. 3

    Tap Install

Enter your passcode. iOS sends the UDID to this page — the profile isn't kept on your device.

  4. 4

    Copy your UDID

Safari opens this page again with your UDID, model and iOS version, ready to copy.

Questions

What is a UDID?

The Unique Device Identifier is a 25- or 40-character ID for an iPhone or iPad. Apple needs it to install development or ad hoc builds on a device: you register the UDID in your Apple Developer account and include the device in the provisioning profile.

Is it safe? Why does iOS say the profile is “Not Verified”?

The profile only asks iOS to send the device's UDID, model, iOS version, serial number and name back to this page, which shows them to you. It doesn't install certificates, settings or apps, and we don't store or log anything. iOS shows “Not Verified” for any profile that isn't signed by a certificate iOS already trusts.

It doesn't work in Chrome.

iOS only lets Safari install configuration profiles. Copy the link and open it in Safari.

How do I find the UDID without a profile?

Connect the device to a Mac and open Finder (or iTunes on Windows), select the device, then click the text under its name until the UDID shows. Right-click it to copy. In Xcode it's under Window → Devices and Simulators, as “Identifier”.

What do I do with the UDID?

In the Apple Developer portal open Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles → Devices → +, paste it, then regenerate your development or ad hoc provisioning profile so the new device is included, and rebuild.
